Volunteering at the Idaho Green Expo will be a lot of fun, and you’ll get a free t-shirt too. We could not put on such a fantastic show without the wonderful help our volunteers provide. We look forward to working with you at the Idaho Green Expo in July!

Volunteer Opportunities


Friday: Event Setup

Move-In Assistant / Loading Dock
Friday, May 7th
4 Shifts:
  8:30 – 11:30 am (3 volunteers)
  11:30 – 3:00 pm (8 volunteers)
  2:30 – 5:30 pm (13 volunteers)
  5:00 – 8:00 pm (7 volunteers)
Age Requirement: 18+

Description: As Move-In Assistant/Loading Dock volunteer you will be assisting exhibitors unload their vehicles and transport items from the loading dock to their booth space. Volunteers in this area will also help the Idaho Green Expo staff with various tasks associated with setting up the event, such as putting up signage. Must be able follow directions, possibly lift heavy objects and be prepared for constant physical activity.

Saturday: Idaho Green Expo

Greeter
Saturday, May 8th
3 Shifts:
  
9:30 – 12:30 pm (6 volunteers)
  12:00 – 4:00 pm (6 volunteers)
  3:30 – 7:00 pm (6 volunteers))
Age Requirement: 16+

Description: Volunteers will be stationed at the main entrance of the Boise Centre on the Grove greeting individuals, handing out guides, keeping tally of how many visit the Expo. Volunteers will also need to answer basic questions regarding the Expo. Be prepared to spend a lot of time on your feet. Volunteers in this area must have a cheerful disposition, be enthusiastic, and comfortable interacting with the public!

Outdoor Set-up
Saturday, May 8th
1 Shift:
   8:00am – 10:00 am (2 volunteers)
Age Requirement: 18+

Description: Volunteers will assist with the outdoor set-up of the Expo, including but not exclusive to posting signs and setting up the bike racks.  They will be available to run errands as needed.  Be prepared to spend time on your feet.

Workshop & Green Room Assistants
Saturday, May 8th
3 Shifts:
  
9:30 – 12:30 pm (4 volunteers)

Age Requirement:16+

Description: Workshop and Green Room Assistants will help prepare the “Growing Green Jobs”, the “Green Within” and Workshop rooms for presentations, keep time for presenters, and greet participants as they arrive.  You may be asked to rotate between the 2020 Vision presentation and other various workshops.  They will be available to run errands as needed, greet participants as they arrive, and answer questions about the Expo.  Be prepared to spend time on your feet.

Zero Waste/Green Recycling Team
Saturday, May 8th
2 Shifts:
  
12:00 – 3:30 pm (2 volunteers)
  3:30 – 8:00 pm (4 volunteers)
Age Requirement: 16+

Description:Volunteers will assist the Idaho Green Expo in maximizing its sustainability goals by diverting as much waste from the landfill as possible. Volunteers will ensure that attendees deposit their waste/recycling in the proper bins at the Resource Recovery Stations, which will be stationed both indoors and outside. This is a number one priority at the Idaho Green Expo and volunteers must maintain an organized and unpolluted Resource Recovery Station. Be prepared to spend a lot of time on your feet and possibly working outside!

Merchandise Booth / GreenWorks Info
Saturday, May 8th
3 Shifts:
   9:30 – 12:30 pm (6 volunteers)
  12:00 – 4:30 pm (6 volunteers)
  4:00 – 7:00 pm (6 volunteers)
Age Requirement: 18+

Description: Volunteers will assist Idaho Green Expo staff with stocking and selling of Expo merchandise and the handling of money in the convention center. Volunteers may also be in the GreenWorks booth, next to the Merchandise, assisting with the raffle, or providing information about the organization behind the Idaho Green Expo.  A friendly, cheerful disposition is a must!

Eco-Kids Volunteers
Saturday, May 8th
3 Shifts:
  9:30 – 12:30pm (2 volunteers)
  12:00 – 4:30pm (2 volunteers)
  4:00 – 7:00pm (2 volunteers)
Age Requirement: 16+

Description Eco-Kid’s volunteers will help facilitate kid’s programs throughout their shift, and make sure parents do not leave their children unattended (parents must stay in Eco-Kid’s Zone with children). Volunteers should be comfortable working with children and with assisting in implementing various children’s programs. Volunteers also help focus attention on presenters, welcome presenters, and assist the Eco-Kid’s area coordinator.  Professional teachers are encouraged to volunteer. Plan on spending a lot of time on your feet!

Expo "Rover"
Saturday, May 8th
2 Shifts:
  12:00 – 3:30pm (2 volunteers)
  3:30 – 7:00pm (2 volunteers)
Age Requirement: 18+

Description: A "rover" is a person who roves; a wanderer. Expo "Rover" volunteers will be the primary back up for any and all situations. Volunteers will assist the Expo staff where needed and must be very flexible. Please be prepared to help either inside the convention center or outside in the plaza. Plan on spending a lot of time on your feet. A friendly, cheerful disposition is a must!

Description: Move-Out volunteers will help the Expo staff with all tasks associated with tearing down the event. Volunteers will help us make sure no exhibitor attempts to leave before the event closes at 6:00 pm. Volunteers will assist exhibitors in transporting items from their booth to the loading dock, and into their vehicles, and to help clean-up the exhibit hall and possibly help to take down signage.  Volunteers must be able to follow directions, possibly lift heavy objects and be prepared for constant physical activity!
